Choosing pavers that suit the style of your home
There are as many different styles of homes as there are pavers to go with them. How do you know which pavers will complement your home’s façade? Ultimately, it comes down to your personal preference, but here are some guidelines to get you started.
Modern contemporary
The modern home façade has clean, sleek lines with few architectural elements. This type of home uses natural materials like stone, brick and wood. To complement this uncomplicated style, look for straight, and uniform pavers with a smooth texture such as Artline, Senzo, Beacon Hill Smooth, and Promenade Plank Paver. Pavers placed in a running bond or stacked bond pattern look great and make an impressive first impression.
Traditional colonial
The traditional home is typically two stories and symmetrical. Town Hall or Copthorne, two brick-inspired choices will enhance the architecture, or consider Beacon Hill Flagstone to provide a flagstone slab feel. Even as your taste and preferences change over the years, the timeless feel of these pavers will always be in style.
Old world charm
Homes with stone facades, dormers, arched entrances and windows are reminiscent of old-world charm. Aged cobblestones can extend the old-world theme in a beautiful way. The smooth, timeworn surface of Courtstone harkens back to Europe’s old cobbled streets and lends a feeling of charming history.
Craftsmen (Arts and Crafts Design)
Craftsmen homes look solid and sturdy, and are built in simple styles with distinctive features like a front porch and tapered columns. They typically use natural materials like stone, wood and brick. Town Hall pavers, modeled from authentic American brick street pavers, are the perfect complement. The substantial size, and distressed appearance deliver a relaxed aesthetic that works in harmony with the clean features of the home.
Regardless of the style of your home, choosing pavers to accentuate it is a personal choice. Sometimes contrast is a beautiful thing – an ultra-modern patio set next to a vintage home can look amazing. Look for inspiration on Pinterest and Houzz.
