RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY PAVERS

THE UNIQUE STRENGTH AND STYLE OF DRIVEWAY PAVERS

Driveway pavers are manufactured to withstand the weight of heavy vehicles outside of a home, so they are typically designed to be tougher and thicker than a traditional paver. They also require a much more robust base to support heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic.

Beyond Durability

Unilock driveway pavers offer a wide range of sizes, colors, styles, and textures, including designs inspired by the look of natural granite, flagstone, and cobblestone. You can design a paved driveway that perfectly suits your home’s style.

Enhance Curb Appeal

A Unilock driveway paver design not only enhances curb appeal but can aid in boosting your home’s property value, making it a practical and beautiful choice.

CHOOSE UNILOCK DRIVEWAY PAVERS FOR UNBEATABLE DURABILITY AND LOW MAINTENANCE

Unilock driveway pavers are built to last, offering two to three times the strength of traditional poured concrete or asphalt driveways, and up to four times the strength with Elegance™. Designed to handle freeze/thaw cycles and seasonal changes, modern driveway pavers are resistant to cracking and shifting year-round.

Asphalt or poured concrete often requires patchwork to fix cracks or holes, which can leave noticeable marks and uneven textures. Worse, some repairs may involve tearing out and re-pouring large sections, which could lead to increased costs and disruption.

Low Maintenance

With the low maintenance appeal of Unilock driveway pavers, any damaged pieces can be easily replaced with new ones, preserving the driveway’s seamless look without the hassle of a full replacement.

DESIGN POSSIBILITIES TO ENHANCE YOUR DRIVEWAY PAVER PROJECT

Unilock driveway pavers offer unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to combine a variety of design elements to create a look that’s uniquely yours. Here are a few ideas to make a bold visual paved driveway statement and elevate the front of your home:

Borders and Accents

Add depth and definition to your paver driveway by incorporating a border, banding, or accent pavers. These features not only create a polished look, but can also help define the edges of your paver driveway and provide subtle visual cues for parking or guiding visitors to your front entrance.

Paver Lighting

Integrating paver lighting into your design can help extend your driveway's charm into the evening. Strategically placed lights can illuminate pathways, enhance safety, and add a warm, inviting ambiance to your home’s exterior.

HOW TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR PAVED DRIVEWAY DESIGN

A driveway is more than just a surface—it’s an integral part of your home’s functionality and curb appeal. Here are some ways to maximize your premium modern driveway paver design.

Heated Driveway

Heated driveway systems are designed to help clear snow and ice from underneath the surface, without the physical strain or recurring costs of shoveling or plowing. This helps reduce the risk of slips and falls during icy weather while preserving the beauty of your driveway. While Unilock does not manufacture heated systems, a professional landscape contractor can help integrate one into your design.

Permeable Pavers

Unilock permeable pavers feature special spacer bars that create wider joint gaps, allowing rainwater and snowmelt to filter back into the soil - reducing pooling and freezing to keep your surface functional and safe. For added eco-friendly benefits, pair permeable pavers with a rainwater harvesting system beneath your driveway to collect runoff for watering plants and supporting local wildlife. Some municipalities may offer tax-saving benefits to encourage the use of permeable applications, so be sure to check with your local municipality about these specific incentives for your project.

Frequently Asked
Questions

How do I choose which paver colors will work best for my driveway?
A good start is to look at your home’s exterior. Look for Unilock paver colors that complement the exterior without copying it exactly. To help define the edges, choose a border stone that matches the trim and/or the roof color for contrast. Another thing to consider is how you will use the space. For example, darker tones are often better for a driveway to hide oil or small spills.
What is the best base material for a paver driveway?
A Unilock paver driveway base starts with a layer of DriveGrid placed directly over the subsoil to prevent rutting, ensure each section overlaps by 12″, and line any vertical soil edges with filter fabric. Spread 3-4″ of the appropriate gravel and compact it with at least three passes of a 10,000 lb. reversible plate compactor. Sandwich a second layer of DriveGrid halfway through the total base depth before adding and compacting the next 3-4″ gravel lift. Rake the gravel to your established string lines to ensure the proper slope and height are achieved.
Are permeable pavers a worthwhile investment for a driveway?
Permeable pavers are an excellent choice for anyone looking to incorporate eco-friendly materials into their outdoor space. Designed with larger spacing joints, Unilock Permeable Pavers help direct stormwater runoff into the ground where it can nourish surrounding grass and gardens, instead of overwhelming storm sewers and potentially causing flooding.
Can Unilock install a heated driveway?
While Unilock does not manufacture heating elements, our pavers are fully compatible with radiant heating systems. If you're looking to add heat to a driveway, a Unilock Authorized Contractor can integrate a professional-grade heating system during your paver driveway installation.
Do driveway pavers need to be sealed?
While not required, sealing driveway pavers will enhance their natural color and help protect the pavers from wear and debris. Unilock offers factory-sealed pavers as well; look for products with EasyClean™ technology, providing built-in stain resistance.
