UniCare NatMatte vs. NatColorEnhance Sealers – Which is better?

When you choose a Unilock paver, you are choosing a long-lasting, low-maintenance, and aesthetically pleasing surface that can be enjoyed for years. While the choice to seal your pavers to preserve their natural beauty is entirely up to you, some homeowners prefer to use a sealant to help enrich the natural color of their paver, provide integral stain resistance, and keep their outdoor space looking pristine.

Here at Unilock, we offer two distinct types of sealing products through our UniCare product line: the NatMatte Sealer and the NatColorEnhance Sealer. Both of these products are excellent sealants made specifically for sealing Natural Stone products, but it’s important to understand how each one will improve your outdoor living space.

UniCare NatMatte Sealer

The NatMatte Sealer is an impregnating sealer, which means it will leave no sheen, shine or surface coating of any kind after it’s been applied. This sealant soaks into the surface of the paver to provide integral stain resistance against dirt, food, oil, plants, leaves, and tree stains. The NatMatte Sealer provides an added layer of protection when sprayed over a bed of pavers where jointing sand has been applied, to protect against weed and algae growth.

UniCare NatColorEnhance Sealer

The NatColorEnhance Sealer works in the same manner as the standard NatMatte Sealer, but carries an additional color-enhancing benefit. As the sealant soaks into the paver, the natural color enhancement of the NatColorEnhance Sealer gives off a damp appearance, accentuating the paver’s vibrant color.

Before you apply either of these sealants to your pavers, make sure the surface of your pavers is free of any natural stains, debris, or efflorescence. Make sure you apply sealant when the weather is dry, and give yourself 24 to 48 hours for the sealant to properly dry. However, if you decide to seal your pavers, you will have to reapply a new coat every 3-5 years in order to maintain the surface’s fresh, sleek appearance.
