This comprehensive backyard makeover comes to us from a private residence in Westchester County, NY. Unilock Authorized Contractor, TRD Designs, Inc, worked alongside the architects, engineers, and various subcontractors to bring together a project with many complicated elements.
With the masons on-site installing new masonry retaining walls, fixing existing ones, and preparing the area surrounding the pool for a brand new patio, architects, engineers, and subcontractors were whirling around the busy jobsite daily. In addition to the masonry work, their was also a large addition to the home in the plans, featuring a new basement living space, family room, and a complete renovation of the existing wooden deck overlooking the pool area.

Even before the masons or building contractors could begin much at all, however, an impressive water feature also included in the outdoor renovations needed to be almost complete. The water feature was to be located on a steep hillside of solid rock next to the pool so getting the heavy equipment needed at waterfall’s location would be impossible if not done first.
Once the rock hammering was complete, the old pool patio was removed and the foundation work for the large staircase leading from the pool patio to the home was framed out. The stairway was designed to blend into the natural stonework of the water feature, offering a nice compliment to the natural stone diving rock placed poolside, as well as a beautiful contrast to the sleek lines of the pool patio.
The inground pool was fully renovated, including a full resurfacing and the addition of laminar deck jets and ambient lighting. The pool patio features Unilock Umbriano Pavers in Summer Wheat with a Copthorne Border. Totaling over 1400 sq. ft in all, the pool patio offers the perfect contemporary touch to the naturalistic stone work and waterfall.
This project won Best Before/After in the 2016 Unilock Awards of Excellence.
