Unilock Pool Coping and Pool-Integrated Water Feature Included in Project by Cedar Ridge Landscapes of Hauppauge, NY
Cedar Ridge Landscapes of Hauppauge, NY, have included Ledgestone Fullnose Coping in this pool deck project. They have also opted to construct a pool-integrated water feature using multiple unit sizes of Estate Wall. The velvety surface of the Ledgestone Fullnose Coping provides rich textural contrast against the weathered rock appearance of Estate Wall, but the appeal is not only visual. Ledgestone Fullnose Coping ensures a gentle, rounded edge for poolsides that allows for maximum comfort for hands and feet. The apparently smooth surface is, in fact, finely textured, ensuring a safe and non-slip overhang for family pools.
The Ledgestone Coping is being laid using mortar as an adhesive to ensure a strong and stable bond. Before the coping unit is put into place on the mortar, the overhang is clearly marked. This reduces the need for last minute readjustments and keeps the line of the coping consistent.
Once the coping unit is put into place, the level is checked and a rubber mallet is used to make incremental adjustments if necessary. While not required for this particular project, it is worth noting that one of the advantages of Ledgestone coping is that, because of its weight, it can be cut directly on top of a finished wall without concern for vibration. Because of the straight lines and right angles of this particular pool design, cutting of the coping was greatly reduced and limited to 45 degree angle cuts for the corners. Accuracy was achieved by measuring the angle from the top edge of the coping and marking inwards from the corner. Narrow jointing lines have been allowed for grouting to ensure room for the expansion and contraction of the units.
For the vertical elements of this project, including the pool-integrated water feature, a randomized stacking arrangement was utilized to further add to the rustic character of Estate Wall. Each piece was carefully selected to maximize this effect while simultaneously reducing cutting where possible.

The interlocking profile of Estate Wall ensures a stable wall that is ideal for poolside and outdoor kitchen features, as well as seat walls and low retaining walls. For this structure, Cedar Ridge Landscapes opted for a masonry adhesive. This ensures a reliable bond, while taking advantage of the unit’s accurately calibrated interlock.
With the water feature operational, the tranquil character of the project is already beginning to show. The final product promises to offer the homeowners a stunning and serene poolside entertainment space for this coming summer.
