Tom DiStefano & Sons Contracting, Inc. of Commack, NY created this extensive poolscape, complete with diving board, raised pool deck and hot tub. The paver selection for this project includes Beacon Hill Smooth in the Steel Mountain color option as the primary paver, Copthorne in Basalt for the deeply contrasting double border, and Brussels Fullnose Edger as coping for the pool edge and steps.

These substantial pool surrounds provide the homeowners with plenty of room to enjoy poolside activities. The expansive area is neatly delineated by a double course of Copthorne pavers in a running bond pattern to create clear definition for the area. The dark Basalt color variation of these pavers pairs excellently with the lighter, more subtle hues of the Beacon Hill Smooth in Steel Mountain. The combination of light and dark greys, as well as the varying hues of the Beacon Hill pavers, ensures that – despite the size of the area – depth and visual interest is maintained.

The raised patio on the far side of the pool gives the design a sense of three-dimensionality, and makes an excellent place for the homeowners to enjoy some sun while taking in the views of their landscape. The inclusion of the hot tub seals the deal, making it a perfect poolside entertaining area. The motif of the double Copthorne border continues around the features of the pool deck, creating an interesting geometric design while drawing the eye. The hot tub includes a channel as a spill-over into the pool, visually linking the two features. To subtly differentiate the raised platform with the lower hardscape, Tom DiStefano & Sons Contracting, Inc. laid the pavers at a diagonal angle. This has the effect of creating an ever so slight variation in mood between the various areas of the hardscape.
