For this front yard walkway project in Lacey Township, NJ, a Unilock Authorized Contractor Home Turf Yard and Home Maintenance LLCselected Unilock Treo EnduraColor pavers in the New York Blend color option. Treo Enduracolor comes with a number of advantages for this kind of project. Its earthy gray coloring and rich natural flagstone texture ensure a relaxed but visually interesting welcoming to the home, while the EnduraColor Facemix Technology employed during their manufacturing ensures long-lasting and authentic appeal.

The walkway extends the width of the driveway and allows pedestrians clear access to the side gate of the home. The tight turns and relatively narrow width of the walkway also make Treo EnduraColor an excellent choice for this project. Treo pavers are similar in texture and coloring to the widely popular Unilock Beacon Hill Flagstone pavers. However, Treo Classic and Treo EnduraColor offer a range of smaller size options, making them ideal for small add-on projects such as this walkway.

The pavers are laid on a base of coarse gravel and edged in with granite blocks. Once the gravel base is in place and a compactor has been run over it to ensure the required density, the Home Turf crew move on to screeding the bedding sand. ¾” metal pipes are used as screed guides to ensure the correct bedding thickness and to guide the screed board. Before the screed board is used to smooth over the sand, the level of the pipes is checked and minor adjustments are made using a mallet.

Because of the tight curves of the walkway, as well as its limited breadth, the screed guides have been placed at various angles to ensure the best coverage possible. The spirit level, used here as both a screed board and to continually check the level of the bedding, is dragged over the bedding sand at angle to best accommodate the breadth of the walkway.
