Performance Lawn and Landscape Install Unilock Ledgestone Step Units
This Unilock Concord Wall retaining wall and Ledgestone Step system are part of a project undertaken by Performance Lawn and Landscape who are based in Poughquag, NY, and serve the Mid-Hudson Valley and Northern Dutchess County area. The project incorporates an open graded aggregate base which ensures sufficient drainage for the area.
The heavy weight Ledgestone Steps used in this project form a solid and reliable set of stairs characterised by the natural textures of their pitched edges. Ledgestone Steps are available in 72×24, 36×18, and 48×24 inch pieces. Because of their size and weight mechanical lifting equipment is required to put the pieces in place. Performance Lawn and Landscape demonstrate their mechanical lifting technique here. The heavy-duty clamps used by the crew here are preferable to the nylon straps used by some contractors, as even high performance straps tend to fray when grazed by the rough edges of concrete or natural stone. This poses a safety risk when working with large, heavy slabs such as this. Straps are also less easily removed once the slab is in place.
To complement the Grey Ledgestone Steps, Concord Wall XL has been used. The Concord Wall XL units feature a similar height profile as the Ledgestone Steps, allowing the horizontal lines of the design to match up and the bold proportions of the project to continue throughout. The Concord Wall system offered by Unilock includes its own coping units, allowing for a cohesive, uniform design.
