When you’re ready to upgrade from a worn poured concrete walkway to a material with elegance and more durability, look no further than Unilock.
Safety
Safety is often the first consideration for any walkway material, especially when your new walkway will need to withstand an abundance of rain, snow, and ice. So look for non-slip finishes—even smooth pavers such as Umbriano (with its subtle pebbled surface) remain safe when wet, unlike asphalt, brick, or some types of natural stone.
Style
Another characteristic to look for is a style that complements your home. Each home is unique, and deserves a walkway that enhances its look. For design ideas and to see various pavers in real life applications, check out the Unilock Dream page, or connect with your local Unilock Authorized Contractor.
If you love the look of brick, consider Copthorne pavers from Unilock. Available in Basalt, Burgundy Red, Burnt Clay, Old Oak, and Steel Blue, you can achieve a traditional or contemporary look depending on the colors you choose.
Or you may view the smaller Mattoni pavers from Unilock as the perfect choice for curved or slender walkways. Sable, Cocoa Brown, and Dark Charcoal give you the look of brick in a more modern profile and without being tied to “brick red.”
If you love the look of granite, a beautiful choice could be Granito pavers from Unilock, which are available in two shapes (rectangular and hexagonal), and two finishes (textured and the smoother Granito, which both come in Sabia or Notte). The boldly mottled color will give your walkway a distinctive look, no matter the style of your home.
Achieve the look of flagstone with Richcliff pavers from Unilock. These premier quality pavers give you an ultra-realistic flagstone appearance including colors and textures. But unlike flagstone, you never have to worry about spalling (flaking due to water infiltration) or slipping. As a bonus, Richcliff pavers are durable enough to be used anywhere in your hardscape areas, including driveways. Richcliff pavers come in three authentic blended colors to match your design aesthetic: Pebble Taupe, Smoke Shale, and Dawn Mist.
If you want something completely modern, you can achieve a dramatic entry using Arcana pavers from Unilock. Choose from one of four chic colors including Lugano, Modena, Corvara, or Vivanto. These bright colors feature a gorgeous speckled pattern and a non-slip silky matte texture. Arcana pavers get their unique appearance from a combination of natural granite, quartz and marble particles as well as large slab sizes for a fresh modern look. EasyClean finish helps protect your walkway from spills. This chic paver is ideal for freshening up all of your outdoor living spaces!
Durability
Over the long run, concrete pavers significantly outlast poured concrete or asphalt. The challenge with poured concrete or asphalt is that they’re solid surfaces, which are very heavy. They must be supported by an adequate base that won’t shift under load, or because of the natural movement of soil. Any shifting will cause cracking or heaving, which means the entire walkway will have to be reinstalled. Paver walkways do allow for slight movement, which prevents cracking or heaving, and should a paver be damaged, you can just have that one paver replaced.
