Above All Masonry’s 2017 Welcome Home Project
The Fourth Annual Welcome Home Project from Above All Masonry, on Long Island, NY, is upon us! This heartwarming contest, sponsored by Unilock, provides a complimentary landscape remodel to a family in need. Each year, Above All Masonry provides a different style of landscape, based on the homeowner’s individual situation.
The latest winner
Homeowner, Mark Pirollo, required a wheelchair accessible outdoor area. Above All Masonry Design wanted to create this wheelchair ramp in a way that united the ramp with the patio and kitchen – so a basic concrete ramp was out of question. Due to the structural demands, the ramp was built using concrete masonry units (CMUs). In order for this ramp to look aesthetically pleasing with the patio, Above All Masonry Design used Unilock Lineo Dimensional Stone as veneer stone by custom cutting each individual piece and adhering it to the CMUs. In order to create a cohesive look with the steps nearby, bullnose coping provides a safe, smooth edge to the ramp and is used again on the steps as well as the custom fire pit. With the natural, rugged aesthetic, the Unilock Beacon Hill pavers were used on the ramp, patio, and walkway. They’re universal and can be used in a variety of hardscape designs – perfect for a project as undefined as this.
