Above All Masonry Design uses Unilock Pavers in Large-Scale Long Island, NY, Driveway and Poolside Patio Hardscape Design
As this matching front and backyard hardscape design take shape, the vision and work of Above All Masonry Design, Inc. along with high performance Unilock products are clearly coming together. The repeating motif of a Treo EnduraColor border in the Charcoal color option tie together the similar shades of Bavarian Treo EnduraColor used for the driveway and Beacon Hill Smooth used for the poolside surrounds at this Long Island, NY, home.
With the main body of the driveway complete, the team moves on to laying the foundation of a driveway apron which will serve as a visual and physical link between the driveway and the street. The driveway has been installed using Unilock recommended standards for excavation, soil compaction, and base level thickness. Soil compaction was measured at well above the standard minimum of 95% Standard Proctor Density before adding the required geotextile layer and a compacted crusher run ¾” gravel aggregate base to ensure stability against vehicle weight and environmental conditions.
To capitalize on the view of the waterway, the backyard design of this project has incorporated a pool and substantial poolside patio. The pool has been placed as near to the shore of the waterway as possible in order to create the impression of the pool and water’s edge merging. This has been achieved by including support walls for the pool’s partially above ground edge. With only the finishing touches left to add, this pool area is already the ideal spot for enjoying sundowners while taking in the view of the river.
Poolside Planting Bed
The partially raised edge of the pool provides the perfect place for a plant bed. This feature allows for the addition of greenery in the form of low shrubs and flowers that won’t obscure the view. The option remains available to the homeowner to convert this area into a tanning patio or to use the space for the addition of a spa or hot tub.
