Gurda Landscaping LLC Make Excellent Progress on Walkway Over The Hudson Project on the Ulster County, NY, Side
We previously joined Unilock Authorized Contractor, Gurda Landscaping LLC., on the site of a large-scale commercial project for which they have been subcontracted for the laying of a pedestrian pavement for the new welcome center of the Poughkeepsie Bridge Walkway Over the Hudson on the Ulster County, NY, side. We now return to catch up with Gurda Landscaping and see how the project is progressing.
The crew has has made great progress in the laying of the 6000 square feet of Eco-Priora. They have moved on from the Sandstone and NY Blend combination used for the drive and are now laying the Bavarian Blend Eco-Priora pavers. The custom Eco-Priora pavers used throughout this project were given an EnduraColor finish.
While their colleagues continue to make headway into the 6000 square feet of permeable Eco-Priora pavers, a two man crew makes rapid progress in the laying of 2000 square feet of special order 24” X 36” Unilock Natural Granite slabs. The Granite Slabs will form a circular courtyard and other unique accent features.
The rapid progress of this two man crew is accomplished with the help of a UniLyft Model PM – Wide Track paver laying assist machine. The UniLyft Model PM is a combination forklift and vacuum paver lifter. Not only does the UniLyft replace two man paver lifters as a more efficient and less labor intensive alternative, it also eliminates the need for a forklift on site. While one man drives and operates the forklift, another effortlessly handles the lifting and placing of the pavers – a job that would otherwise require back-breaking labor.
Because the UniLyft takes advantage of the principles of air pressure and vacuum, the substantial weight of these granite slabs is effectively reduced to zero. This allows workers to simply lift the pavers, guide them into place and release the vacuum mechanism, without any strain on the elbows, back, or knees. The addition of the forklift on the frontend of this machine improves mobility and ensure that pavers are always at hand.
In addition, a natural stone wall system is being constructed by the crew to accent the earthy colors of the pavers and form a textured backdrop to this ambitious project.
Each stone of the wall is carefully fitted into place, with smaller stones used as wedges to ensure a consistent level.
We shall continue to keep you posted on Gurda Landscaping’s stellar progress on this project.
