Gomes Landscaping & Masonry, Inc. Prevent Erosion of Soil Around Ossining, NY, Home’s Foundation with Concord Wall
This project, undertaken by Unilock Authorized Contractor, Gomes Landscaping & Masonry, Inc., included a specially engineered retaining wall system for a home in Ossining, NY. The homeowners, who recently purchased the home, were drawn to the property by the sweeping views of the Hudson River, allowed by the steep slope on which the house is positioned.
Unfortunately, such a steep slope comes with its own set of concerns. In this case, fast moving rain water rushing down the hill was causing soil to erode away from around the house’s foundations. Not only was this detracting from the magnificent view with unsightly bare areas of ground, but the integrity of the home’s foundations were at stake.

Luckily the situation was promptly taken care of by the Gomes Landscaping & Masonry, Inc. crew with the construction of a three tiered, 5’ retaining wall system to contain the soil erosion and preserve the aesthetic and structural integrity of the property.
The retaining wall system was built using Unilock Concord Wall in the Granite color option. Concord Wall ensures an immensely stable structure and automatically forms the correct slope with the unit’s built-in setback design. For additional strength and stability for this especially precarious construction, the XL unit was used. The Concord Wall XL unit features the substantial dimensions of 15.75″ X 11.75″ X 5.875″, ensuring the necessary heft for a heavy load-bearing retaining wall.
In addition, the Gomes Landscaping & Masonry, Inc. team ensured that accessibility along the side of the home was maintained by including access stairs and a walkway.
