Doctor’s Lawn and Landscape: Thornbury Driveway with Sycamore and Bavarian Mix in Kansas City, MO

This stunning driveway in Kansas City, MO, was undertaken by Unilock Authorized Contractor, Doctor’s Lawn and Landscape. With its long, winding layout, neat border of shrubs, and complex array of textures – this driveway is warm and inviting with a touch of sophistication.

Thornbury was selected as the primary paver product for this driveway design. A blend of Sycamore and Bavarian shades was utilized to create a warm wash of color. The integration of rich browns and cool greys results in an interesting color palette that is deep and dynamic. Blending these two shades results in dark valleys and eye-catching pops of lighter hues, transforming a large flat expanse into a dynamic surface. The pleasant nudes within this color palette also achieve an air of elegance and modernity.

The rich colors of these Thornbury pavers are protected from UV damage and general wear and tear by EnduraColor Facemix Technology from Unilock. This innovative manufacturing process combines coarse, hardy aggregates with fine, highly pigmented particles to merge beauty and brawn.

Thornbury pavers are also able to accommodate permeable installation methods, which result in ecological benefits. Permeable pavers allow rain water to return to the underlying ecosystem, rather than spilling over into stormwater drains. Permeable installation methods entail the use of specific joint material, and graded stone chips should be sourced exclusively for filling the voids between permeable pavers. Thornbury pavers bear strategic paver spacers that enable the joints to facilitate the drainage of water into the subgrade, provided they are filled with the appropriate clear-running materials.

Should a client prefer a permeable paved surface, a maintenance program should be put in place to address any issues that may arise. These include slow drainage, surface crusting, covered jointing material and weeds. A preventative maintenance program can help to curtail these concerns. If neglected, professional restoration of the surface may become necessary, should drainage become inefficient over time.
