Clarke Landscapes LLC Uses Estate Wall to Turn a Sloping Yard into a Luxurious, Party-Ready Patio in Farmington, CT
This multi-functional patio design in Farmington, CT, was completed by Unilock Authorized Contractor, Clarke Landscapes, LLC.. The project features a relaxed Beacon Hill Flagstone patio area shielded by a beautiful retaining wall built using Unilock Estate Wall and Town Hall accents. The project incorporates a fully-equipped Estate Wall outdoor kitchen grill island and a functional dining area, as well as two lounge spots, an Estate Wall fire pit, and a private, family-room-like corner.
With the retaining wall, the contractor not only incorporated one of the best solutions to elegantly taming a slope, but also maximized the available space with a lawn and plant beds. Strategically placed for shelter and privacy, the retaining wall is broken up by a set of steps that lead to the upper part of the landscape.
When dealing with a sloped property, the challenge is to avoid making the landscape feel cluttered and closed in. In this case, the retaining wall not only fulfills this preventative role but gives the landscape a new dimension, without taking the attention away from the property’s natural setting. The choice of wall unit can have a massive effect on a project’s final look. The naturalistic texture of Estate Wall is perfect for this outdoor scenario as it fits perfectly with the cottage-in-the woods landscape style.
Because of its unique, antique-textured finish that recreates the look of aged, natural rock, Estate Wall works best when surrounded by an abundance of greenery. The wall’s weathered texture and the various shape and size options make the fire pit a stunning centrepiece in the midst of the natural beauty. The dark banding adds an interesting touch, especially at night.
For patio bordering and wall banding, the contractor utilized Town Hall in the Basalt shade. This paver is an excellent choice for patio accents because of its bold color and charming, time-worn appearance. Town Hall pavers are part of the exclusive EnduraColor Plus line of products from Unilock. Town Hall presents an ultra-realistic texture, thanks to a manufacturing process known as Reala Surface Technology, whereby molds are cast from hundreds of actual historical street-brick pavers. This paver is also manufactured using Ultima Concrete Technology, a proprietary manufacturing process which creates pavers with up to four times the strength of concrete.
The project connects large expanses of masonry with the right amount of greenery while enhancing the home’s architecture with the use of Estate Wall and Town Hall pavers. This helps to give the project an authentic overall look while remaining fresh and modern.
