Badgerland Lawns & Landscaping, Inc. Create Pool Deck and Patio with Natural Appeal in Menomonee Falls, WI
Badgerland Lawn & Landscaping, Inc. decided on a calming, resort-like look and feel for this pool deck and patio in Menomonee Falls, WI. After having a Courtstone driveway installed, these homeowners knew they needed an outdoor living room fit for entertaining family and friends. The project includes a Yorkstone poolside patio in Honey Gold, with a Basalt Courtstone border. These pavers match the base of the pergola, which is comprised of Estate Wall in the River color variation, accented by Dark Charcoal Unigranite pavers. The outdoor kitchen serves as the cornerstone of this patio design and is the perfect gathering spot.
Honey Gold Yorkstone is well suited to poolside spaces because it contains warm, sandy undertones that contrast cool blue pool water. This pairing creates a beachy look and feel that can enhance the tranquility of the poolside. In addition, Reala Surface Technology, a manufacturing process exclusive to Unilock, has been used to imbue these pavers with the textures of timeworn limestone.
Different parts of the hardscape are connected by a flowing walkway comprised of the same paver combination. Flanked by characterful pebbles and small shrubs, this walkway exudes a sense of cool elegance and sophistication. While the Yorkstone pavers and pebbles echo the same sandy color palette, the Basalt Courtstone border serves to create an interesting contrast.
Both random and linear paver patterns are commonly created using Yorkstone pavers. Opt for ¼ inch spacing between units, and pay special attention to the color of the jointing material you use. For example, light jointing material can result in a continuous stone surface with blurred borders between individual pavers. The dark jointing material utilized in this project, however, highlights the slightly irregular edges of each paver, drawing attention to their stone-like qualities. When it comes to stabilizing the joints between pavers, ordinary jointing sand stabilized by a water- or solvent-based stabilizer will do the trick. A better option, however, would be Unicare Polymeric Sand, as polymeric sand offers various additional benefits, including the prevention of weeds.
