This charming landscape and backyard games area is the creation of Unilock Authorized Contractor, Hosler’s Homescapes of Lititz, PA. The project features a sweeping walkway, built from Unilock Courtstone with a Copthorne border, that connects the home to the shaded bocce court and giant chess board games area. The walkway cuts past fertile plant beds, a magnificent koi pond water feature and an enclosed sandy area that can also facilitate games of various types. The games area is built using Beacon Hill Flagstone, with a combination of Courtstone and Copthorne as a border.
The Basalt coloring of the Courtstone walkway accents the dark slate roof of the home, as well as the rich mulch beds which house a variety of plants and surround the koi pond. Tan Sand has been chosen for the jointing, continuing the coloring of the area’s natural sandy soil type.
Both ends of the bocce court – the parts of the court in which most of the action takes place – have been covered by large pergolas that span the width of the court. The pergolas feature a dark, rich wood that extends the coloring of the Copthorne pavers. In order to facilitate nighttime fun, string lights have been attached to the pergolas’ cross-beams.
The bocce court takes its cues from the traditional italian asphalt court of 90ft. The area is sunk to ensure that runaway balls are kept to a minimum. Rather than asphalt, compacted gravel has been used to give the area a smooth playing surface.
Beside the bocce court, residents can enjoy a leisurely game of chess on the giant chess board. The black and white squares of the chess board are composed of Umbriano pavers in the Midnight Sky and Summer Wheat color options, respectively.
The wide variety of shapes and colors in which Unilock pavers are available, make them ideal for the creation of backyard games areas, giant game boards and courts of all kinds. In addition, the Unilock website now allows you to search for products via color group in order to find the exact shades for your project.
