Albert Group Landscaping and Swimming Pools Install Drain for Beacon Hill XL Pool Deck in Hudson Valley, NY
Part of this Beacon Hill Smooth XL pool deck project in the Hudson Valley, NY, involves the installation of necessary drainage. Since the pavers are set onto a base of ⅛” clear chip stone, the pool deck operates as a semi-permeable surface, through which rainwater and excess pool water will flow, to be collected by the various drainage measures put in place by Unilock Authorized Contractor, Albert Landscaping and Swimming Pools. In addition, any overflow will be collected by the channel drain that runs alongside the pool deck.
The piping for the channel drain is being installed above. To get an idea of the lay of subsurface piping and positioning for the outlet to which this length of piping must be attached, the crew keep the positions roughly marked out with rope. This is intensive work, involving digging, laying the pipe to check for fit and grade, removing the pipe to make any necessary adjustments, and starting the process again until the pipe fits snugly along the necessary path at the correct angle. However, as any contractor knows, proper drainage is essential for a successful hardscape.
The water collected by the channel drains will funnel along the above-mentioned pipe and into a second channel drain that runs along the bottom level of the hardscape. This will also collect any water which permeates the surface of the pool deck. From here, the water can be collected via subsurface collection tanks for re-use in the yard.
